February 9 - 10, 2009 - Pick up I-10 East in Baton, LA then drive non-stop through Alabama and finally into Florida!

February 9, 2009 (continued) - The gas pedal is working. I'm out in the middle of nowhere. Whew, that was a close one...

February 9, 2009 (continued) - Drove on I-20 from Mesquite, TX then picked up I-49 South in Shreveport, LA. Somewhere around Alexandria, LA my cruise control stopped working. No problem, I still have the gas pedal. Uh-oh, gas pedal isn't working...

February 9, 2009 - Spent the night in Mesquite, TX. Said good-bye to Jamerson and Rachel in the morning and started the last leg of the trip on my own.

Beaches are increible. I go there every year with my wife and we love it.
Last time was perfect, we stayed at the best resort I've ever been. The service was really good and, the room, we felt like it was designed just for us!

Loreto is, for us, the perfect scape from busy Los Angeles.

February 8, 2009 - Spending the night in Albuquerque, NM

February 7, 2009 - Crossing the Hoover Dam. Jamerson had to take a detour because they don't allow trucks to cross over the Hoover Dam. DAMN! We're going to meet up on the other side. We went to a wonderful flamenco show in Seville in a tiny theater nestled between Santa Teresa and Maria streets. We had the balcony to ourselves which had a perfect view, and my 4 and 7 year old daughters got to see the performers between acts. One even sat by our youngest and braided her doll's hair! February 6, 2009 - Arrive in Las Vegas, NV spend the night at the Ramada. Jamerson rented a limo so we went into town in style. Jamerson & Rachael went to see "The Blue Man Group" and I went to the Hard Rock Casino. Lost $300, but had a blast! Motley Crue is playing the Hard Rock Cafe, so the place is packed! February 3, 2009 - Spending the night at Rachel's grandmother's house in lovely Grant's Pass, OR. Her husband invented the machine that puts labels on bottles as they travel down the conveyer belt at hundreds per minute! Grandma's loaded!

February 4-5, 2009 - Stopped in San Diego, CA to visit Uncle Bert & Uncle Chris. Had fuel pump replaced (again!) to the tune of $1,100.00!

February 2, 2009 - Leaving Silverdale, WA after 4 years of Navy life.
When the movers were loading up all the stuff I had stored in my buddy's garage, I saw something shiny on the floor. It was a St. Christopher medal, the patron saint of safe travel. I keep it in my pocket.

Sintra was just beautiful. It had all the charm expected of an old European village, lots of hills and wonderful architecture, tropical forests, views of the Atlantic and several spectatular castles on top of the mountains. I loved the winding road to the top of the castle ruins which had spectatular views of the countryside and ocean. [...]
